ARMY OF ANYONE Frontman: 'We Wanted To Give The World A Perfect First Record'
November 4, 2006AOL Music reports that ARMY OF ANYONE, the new supergroup featuring ex-FILTER frontman Richard Patrick, former STONE TEMPLE PILOTS members Robert and Dean DeLeo and drummer Ray Luzier, has announced its first tour dates, kicking off Nov. 18 in Philadelphia. Patrick can't wait.
"I'm ready to play all of them," Patrick says of the tracks from the quartet's debut album. "This record was cut down from 30 songs. We chopped it down to 11. It was brutal. We wanted to give the world a perfect first record. There's no throwaway on this thing."
Patrick says the quartet is preparing plenty of surprises, including songs that will please fans of the band members' past work. "We're incredibly proud of our past, so we are going to honor that. You're going to hear 'Hey Man, Nice Shot', but it's going to be taken to another level by DeLeo hands. And I'm a tenor, Scott [Weiland]'s a baritone, so obviously we're going to have to change the keys around, but we're already doing 'Interstate' and we're going to flush some more STP stuff out too. I love Scott's lyrics. I think it's an honor singing those songs."
Patrick also says the band wants to honor songs that go beyond their own past, including a probable LED ZEPPELIN cover: "These guys are incredibly capable players, so we want to pay homage to a lot of music from the past, not just our own."
